Today’s Catholic will offer a series of articles over the next 10 months featuring Perpetual Adoration Chapels located across the Archdiocese of San Antonio. These stories will run in conjunction with coverage of the Year of the Eucharist, recently promulgated by Pope John Paul II.
SAN ANTONIO • St. Patrick Parish recently celebrated the third anniversary of their Perpetual Adoration Chapel which began on Sept, 14, 2001, the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, and only three days after the events of Sept. 11.
Father Walter Ebarb, pastor, was the main celebrant of the Mass on Sept. 19, and he was joined on the altar by two deacons from St. Patrick and Our Lady of Sorrows Parish. The event was celebrated in English, Spanish and Latin.
Deacon Jose A. Suniga from St. Patrick was the homilist, and he gave his testimony of his own personal call to eucharistic adoration through Our Lady.
Following the liturgy, the eucharistic procession around the church property began with the first communicants leading the way, tossing rose petals. |
The Knights of Columbus, along with the many organizations of the parish and adorers, processed back into the church for benediction by Father Ebarb and a surprise conclusion. The rosary makers had a special gift for each participant, a red rosary with gold tone crucifix.
At the event’s conclusion, Annie Jimenez, head coordinator of Perpetual Adoration, invited all to the St. Patrick Parish Hall. |
