Seminarians follow Christ in ordination to diaconate

Photo provided
SAN ANTONIO • Three students from Assumption Seminary — Manuel Cardoza of the Diocese of San Bernardino, Calif., and Valentine Gallegos and Jonathan Felux, both from the Archdiocese of San Antonio (shown in photos above, right) — were ordained to the diaconate at a Mass celebrated by Archbishop José H. Gomez Oct. 18 at St. Paul Parish, in recognition of the church’s jubilee Year of St. Paul.

Concelebrants at the liturgy included Father Lawrence Christian, rector of Assumption Seminary, Auxiliary Bishop Oscar Cantú, the priest faculty at the seminary and priests of the archdiocese.
Deacons Henry Clay Hunt III and Jesús Anguiano assisted.

Masters of ceremonies were Scott Schwind, James Seiwert, Victor Valdez, and James Wilcox, and acolytes were seminarians from Assumption. Vesting clergy chosen were: Deacon Hunt by Deacon Cardoza, Deacon Valentine Gallegos, Sr., and Msgr. Patrick O’Callaghan by Deacon Gallegos, and Deacon Scott Donaho by Deacon Felux.
