Hispanic Alliance for Family and Life formed, to hold national meeting in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO • “Armed with Truth,” the second national Hispanic National Pro-Life Congress, will be held Sept. 4-6 at Antonian College Preparatory High School, 6425 West Avenue, in San Antonio. Archbishop José H. Gomez and other priests of the archdiocese will be participating in liturgies at the gathering.

Internationally known clergy featured at the event include Father Thomas Euteneuer, president of Human Life International; Father Daniel McCaffrey, executive director of NFP Outreach in Oklahoma City, who has established successful NFP programs on the diocesan and parish levels; Father Victor Salomón, an associate priest at Priests for Life who is also a member of the Diocesan Laborer Priests, an organization that specialized in promoting and helping people in the discernment of their vocations; Father Buenaventura Wainwright, a leader of “Courage Latino,” a homosexual outreach ministry based in Cuernavaca, Mexico, which urges chastity and prayer for people with same-sex desires; and Father Wilmer de Jesus Daza, a missionary priest from the NeoCatechumenate Movement who has been actively involved in abortion aftercare Rachel’s Vineyard healing retreats in Dallas.

Laywomen presenters at the gathering are Pilar Calva, Ph.D., who received her certification in cytogenics in 1987 and teaches at the John Paul II Institute Sciences of Family and Marriage, in addition to being a member of the Pontifical Academy for Life; Rita Marker, author of the critically acclaimed book “Deadly Compassion,” who served as the executive director of the International Task Force on Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide; and Lisette Lange, attorney and partner in the law firm of Deffenbaugh and Lange who has been a featured speaker at various conference dealing with pro-life and end-of-life issues.

Antonio Ramírez de León, Ph.D., a pastoral associate at St. Luke Church in San Antonio, will also be speaking at the Congress. Dr. Ramírez has expertise in the integration of spirituality, psychology, gender issues and multiculturalism.

Cost for the gathering is $50 for conference attendance with no meals or $90 for registration with six meals.
