La Coste Parish celebrates former pastor's jubilee

At the reception after the Mass, Msgr. Palmer’s family was recognized, in photo at right. The reception provided a great mix of food and fellowship as memories were shared by all. Msgr. Palmer’s gifts of giving, tenderness, gentleness and holiness have left an indelible mark on our parish.
OUR LADY OF GRACE • It was a day to give thanks for the gifts of the 50 years of priesthood of Msgr. Thomas Palmer, when hundreds gathered at Our Lady of Grace parish in La Coste on June 22 to celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving for his golden jubilee. Several clergy came to concelebrate, including Archbishop Emeritus Patrick F. Flores and retired Auxiliary Bishop Thomas J. Flanagan. A large contingent of religious who also hail from the Emerald Isle came to offer their congratulations and express their gratitude for the gifts of this beloved priest who has served the Archdiocese of San Antonio since his ordination in Ireland on June 8, 1958. His last parish assignment was as pastor at Our Lady of Grace in 1989, the same year he was given the title of monsignor. He retired from active ministry in 2001.
