SAN ANTONIO • All are invited to a “Fiesta of Life!” in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Humanae Vitae on Saturday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Church located at 1602 Thousand Oaks in San Antonio. The day is the apex of a year-long effort to promote awareness in the Archdiocese of San Antonio of this landmark encyclical.

The gathering will feature Mass at 10 a.m., events for youth, and food and entertainment throughout the afternoon.

Speakers Jason and Elise Angelette will present a talk to youth and teens on “Passion, Purity and the Meaning of Life,” as well as a presentation titled “To Love as God Loves” to the general audience. The Angelettes are in their sixth year of marriage and have three children.

They are the directors of Faith and Marriage for the Willwoods Community in New Orleans. The organization was established in 1978 by a group of married couples desiring to support the Catholic Church and the community through prayer and service.

Jason Angelette is a former Theology Department chair at Hannahan High School in New Orleans. He studied at Southeastern Louisiana University and received an undergraduate degree in exercise science and health promotion. He then became a personal trainer and a fitness director at an athletic club. Simultaneously, he experienced a conversion in his Catholic faith and began ministering to his clients while training them. He later traveled to Washington D.C., and studied at the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family, earning a master’s degree in theological science.

Elise Charbonnet Angelette studied early childhood education with a focus in child psychology at Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio, where she earned a bachelor’s degree. After graduation, she returned home to New Orleans and taught kindergarten and drama. She has been involved in youth ministry as a leader, speaker and music minister since she was a teen-ager. She has also tutored and taught drama to home school students. In addition, the Angelettes are members of Theophony, a theatre company which travels around the country performing Pope John Paul II’s play, “The Jeweler’s Shop.”

Presenter Father Daniel McCaffrey will discuss “The Most Important Encyclical of the 20th Century.”

Father McCaffrey, a priest of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, has worked in the Apostolate of Marriage Enrichment for decades, establishing successful Natural Family Planning programs on the diocesan and parish level.

Free event: “Fiesta of Life!” is free, but those interested in attending are asked to call Sharon Whitley in the archdiocesan Office of Marriage and Family Life at the Pastoral Center at (210) 734-1649, or e-mail sharon.whitley@archsa.org.
